अयनेषु च सर्वेषु यथाभागमवस्थिता: ।
भीष्ममेवाभिरक्षन्तु भवन्त: सर्व एव हि ।। १.११ ।।

ayaneṣu ca sarveṣu yathābhāgamavasthitāḥ ।
bhiṣmamevābhirakṣantu bhavantaḥ sarva eva hi ।। 1.11 ।।

 Let all the army divisions, yourself and the
rest, retaining their positions protect Bheeshma
alone well.

Note: How indecent and high-handed it is for a disciple
to talk to his great Teacher like this: ‘I do not want you
to take any initiative yourself. All I ask you for is to
protect Bheeshma. When he is there, everything is safe. I
shall be unconquerable. Is there any greater belittling of
the great Teacher’s skill and competence!
