Sukha-duhkhas, rather than tormenting us by their overpowering delusion, should lead us to spiritual enlightenment. Beneath the alternating sukha and duhkha, reigns the unchanging ever-present Self. The fleeting nature of sukha-duhkhas is itself sufficient compulsion for the mind to analyze and introspect deeply to discover the non-fleeting substratum. Thus, the enquiry into the real nature of sukha-duhkhas will lead the mind finally to the threshold of spiritual wisdom.
