"Let not world-objects be your mind’s master. Let them be, if at all, subservient to the mind. To be spiritual is not to look for one’s delight and fulfillment in the objects of the world. The mind that causes delight through any object can also provide delight without such an object. Delight in reality belongs to the mind alone. It is verily mind’s own gift."

Therefore, restraining the senses, etc. well, O
bull of Bharata lineage, exterminate this sinner,
born to annihilate knowledge and realization
of knowledge.

Note: Krishna had clarified that spiritual restraint
cannot be wrought externally by another. Self effort
alone is the right means for it.
Here he specifies the restraint has first to be applied
to the senses, mind and intelligence alike. All the three
are closely inter connected. Mind employs senses, and
intelligence directs the mind. Passion enfolds all the
three. So a three-pronged effort is needed.
A right evaluation that passion is a full-fledged sinner,
out to destroy one’s knowledge as well as the effort to
realize the essence of that knowledge will .
Purify the mind by reforming and refining the very
thought process. By regular rumination, examine and
assess the mind structure. By infusional introspection
enlighten the intelligence more and more, to bring
about emotional and rational enrichment, which
strengthens and embellishes the inner personality.
