See, yesterday night I was telling you about the two parallel paths, the wisdom and the devotion. In both of them it is a question of the mind getting to a level of sublimity, by virtue of which the entire life will proceed in its own manner.

If you analyze the human mind, there is always a sense of deficiency felt by it. “Whatever I have is not sufficient, I must have something more.” So that insufficiency about whatever it has, and to remove it and becoming sufficient, to have something more. nānavāptam avāptavyam, if you analyze it, it is always this. Whether the things to be had are either relationship, or materials, or education, or even spiritual wisdom, it can be products perceptible to the senses, materials. It can be mind products, intellectual products. Intellectual product is knowledge. Mental product is contentment and things like that, any quality or virtue. So, the insufficiency is caused because we feel that we don’t have this, we don’t have that. Now, in order to remove the insufficiency and have sufficiency, we have a desire for this, that, and all. If you analyze the mind, it is only this.

Now what does the path of devotion say? You completely rest, rest at the feet of the Lord or on the Lord Himself.

Develop that madvyapāśrayatva. If you are able to do it – what is meant by able to do it? Every mind is able to do it. What is the special ability it should have? “I rest upon God for whatever I need and I do not need.”

You may say that, “Swamiji, my mind is not able to think in this manner.” I have no objection. Very good! Have you recognized that you are not able to think in this manner? Very good! Rest upon God to remove this feeling, to redress this feeling and make you rely upon Him. Instead of relying upon Him, you put one more step behind, that’s all. What is that? "My dear God, I want to rely upon you but I am not able to rely upon. Make me rely upon you. Make me rely upon you." That’s all what you have to think.

Okay. That also is not possible. “Swamiji, I am not able to say and feel even this.” Okay. Tell God, “I want to say you make me rely upon you, but somehow my mind refuses to say this. So, set right my mind and make the mind say, I rely upon you.” In all these things, where is the trouble, I don’t understand. I think you start painting very strange, wrong pictures of God. You may have only a fractional degree of reliance. Or you may not have even that. Even then you can say, “My dear God, I rely upon you so that I will have at least a fractional degree of reliance.” If you have a fractional degree, you say “I must have a digital degree.” Finally, you can say “I must have hundred percent degree.” Where is the trouble here? The same process is achieved by the sublimational jñāna. What does jñāna say? Keep your mind uniform and even, with regard to whatever you have and whatever you need to have.

There is a law and a process by virtue of which, like the flow of a river, the river does not and need not have a will and a wish to flow. The flow starts from a peak of a mountain, and depending upon the terrain, the water will start flowing. Suppose it is obstructed by a huge rock, then it will go on flowing, the water will be collected, and at one point of time, either the rock will be pushed, or it will overflow the rock. But even then it will not stop. So, make your mind uniform and even towards whatever is and whatever is going to be.

Actually it is the same mental sublimity that you will have even when you rely upon God. In one, an external God or a conceptual God is resorted to, to rely upon. In the other, a direct sublimation to the mind is attempted. I think there is no difference at all between the two. In both cases, it is the mind’s sublimity that results. Whether you seek the assistance of God or you only seek the assistance of true wisdom, it makes no difference at all. The acquisition or sufficiency that you propose to have, it can be a physical material like a house, gold, maybe relationships, maybe some virtues, or maybe something like knowledge, anything it can be. I think all these will come.

Sometimes I laugh at myself. On my table, sometimes, half-a-dozen or a dozen books are kept. I am generally not a reader and I don’t like to read also. But because of this telecast programme, I have to read. Read means, I have to look into and get some references, quotations etc. So, sometimes, like a school boy, I have to open the pages of the book, look for this and that. This is something that I don’t like at all. I don’t know how I write. It is something very, very strange, something that I never thought in my life. So, whatever I did not think, it has come to take place, it is taking place. I think it is all part of the process.

I did not try for a telecast programme. The telecast programme came and knocked at the door, I opened the door reluctantly, and after opening the door, it got involved to such an extent that instead of one telecast series, I am handling two, which is difficult. Now, a letter has come from the Disha Channel people, that people are asking … tremendous response is there for Inner Spiritual Splendor. They are telling us, “You telecast it three times a day” The people of America, they say that, “why are you showing it only for five days? Saturday and Sunday we are free, so why don’t you show us on Saturday and Sunday also, when we are freer.” So, they have written a letter, we are going to relay it, telecast it on all the seven days. I told them that I cannot do it, let them telecast on Saturday and Sunday and leave Monday and Tuesday, I will not be able to generate matter for all the seven days in a week.

But this is something that I never wanted or never looked for, never expected. And that makes me do tremendous work also. So, sometimes I mock at myself, I laugh at myself as to what am I doing now. Why I mention this. It is all a part of the flow called life. I think, the best education and doctorate that we want to take is an understanding that life has got an irresistibility in its flow and course. It is all a simple thinking, thinking in a very simple manner, easy manner, straightforward manner, light manner.
