"Our body and this complex world around us is meant to reveal and display the Self variously. Spiritual seeking lies in looking for That which animates the body. Turn the mind and intelligence inward to their very Source. Let the thoughts make you search for the thinking substance, the thinker.  Only then the mystery of the Self will be unveiled."

Harih Om Tat Sat. Jai Guru. Jai Guru.

Every day while taking bath in the bathroom, I do some very good thinking. Either the thinking is about a current subject that occupies my mind or it can be very occasional and I don’t know whether I can say providential. So, something came to my mind.

Panchama purushartham bhavathihi nityam panchama purushartham.
Srnurey sarve panchama purushartham.

Sometime like a song in Sanskrit came to my mind. There is no kartrtva, there is no bhoktrtva. Things come to take place. Niyathi brings whatever is to be brought. It takes away whatever is to be taken away. What is there to be thought about? This kind of a thought process came to my mind.

About panchama purushartham, my Gurudev has written. But I have no access to that book but it is known that it is supreme saranagathi. What is this supreme saranagati? Is it to be written and registered in a book? Not at all! It is getting reconciled to whatever takes place and does not take place, getting reconciled to anything and everything. Ultimately it is getting reconciled to your own mind and its thought process, your own intelligence and its reasonable reasoning process, your own ego and its assertional process. But the mind, intelligence and ego will do their functions on the basis of some purity or the purity, the knowledge, then again the humbleness, humility or ego extinction that you have.

It is true that our mind will think and you will follow the mind. But the thoughts of the mind will certainly be according to the mind’s own level of purity, intensity, piety, sense of reconciliation etc. And intelligence will be governed by its own knowledge. It all depends upon the one, how much he thinks, how much he knows, how much he wants to know. And so far as ego is concerned, any good person, devotee will know that ego is something to be effaced, the ego should not offer any resistance at any point of time. At the same time, just like Hunuman felt, “For my Lord, Ramachandra Mahaprabhu, I must jump over to Lanka.” See, he had a kind of an ego, “My lord must have somebody to go to Lanka and search for Sita Devi. So I would like to try. I must.” You can say in one sense it is an ego, but truly speaking it is not ego. So where is the line, you may wonder.

Distinguishing between ego-fullness and ego-freeness, that is the mystery and catch point of the whole life of devotion, spirituality and yoga. Very few people understand the mystery and are able to live well.

I am dictating commentary on the 28th chapter of Krishna’s dialogue with Uddhava. He is explaining the man of knowledge will be acting, getting involved with the senses and sensory interactions. The man of ignorance also will be doing it. For the ignorant man, it causes bondage and so many difficulties. For the knowledgeable man, it will never cause (bondage). Tell me where is the line of distinction between the two? Who will say who is doing it without getting bound and who is doing it getting bound? It is impossible to say. One has to feel himself or herself.

Whether it is through a process of knowledge or through a process of devotion, ultimately it is a question of just like earth is revolving, wind is blowing, water is flowing, fire is burning, space is remaining in its own axis, we are all born after these, from these, governed by these. If the causal sources, if the causal factors, sources, they remain performing their role without any ego, without any desire or will, their products that we are, we will also be doing. My lungs will make me breathe, my heart will make me feel the pulse, the digestive system will work. Only when all these biological processes go on, I will be able to say, ‘I am’, I will be able to speak, think, understand and all that.

So everywhere we are living a borrowed life. We are not living a sovereign independent life. But you can be sovereign and independent in thinking that we are living a borrowed life. It is for everyone to search the heart, mind etc. and find out.

Some people may come up and say, “Swamiji, how to know there is ego or there is delusion?” as Narayanan asked me once in Jamshedpur. I closed my eyes and remained for a while and then answered him. The man of delusion will not know that he is deluded. So how to know that? So I was wanting to tell you that today I was speaking about panchama purushartha, singing or thinking about it.

Panchama purushartha refers to, purushartha is moksha and after becoming liberated or being liberated what happens? He lives in a state of.. Our Baba used to write in all the post cards he is doing, mostly he will end it up, “Thy will be done”, “Thy will be done”, “Thy will be done”. I was uttering these words today a few times. This is the supreme truth. That means the mind lives in a state of ease, comfort, harmony, in spite of the difficulties and hardships and the conflicts etc. it has to pass through, still there is an undercurrent of harmony. That harmony is “Thy will be done.” Think about it. It is very great to think about it.

Harih Om Tat Sat. Jai Guru. Jai Guru.
