"Unflinching devotion to the Teacher is paramount in the life of a true seeker. To begin with, an external God can be the object of faith. But once the devotee grows to be a seeker, only a Wise Teacher can fulfil his quest.  It is then for the seeker to get purified and enlightened by the words of wisdom from his Guru.  Their bond and attunement put the Teacher on the pedestal of God.  Such an impeccable Guru-sishya bond alone bestows wisdom, strength and fulfillment to the seeker."

Only that man whose mind is not steady falls a prey to the confusion giving rise to the perception of diversity, which leads to the sense of good and evil and in the eyes of an individual having the notion of good and evil there exists the distinction of karma, akarma and vikarma

Udhava submits:
I am ignorant, O Lord, for I am attached to this body and its relations, which are the creation of your Māyā. I am immersed in the notion of 'I' and 'mine'. Therefore, instruct me your servant properly so that I may easily attain to the ideal of renunciation as taught by you.
