न काङक्षे विजयं कृष्ण न च राज्यं सुखानि च ।
किं नो राज्येन गोविन्द किं भोगैर्जीवितेन वा ।। १.३२ ।।

येषामर्थे काङ््क्षितं नो राज्यं भोगा: सुखानि च ।
त इमेऽवस्थिता युद्धे प्राणांस्त्यक्त्वा धनानि च ।। १.३३ ।।

आचार्या: पितर: पुत्रास्तथैव च पितामहा: ।
मातुला: श्वशुरा: पौत्रा: स्याला: संबन्धिनस्तथा ।। १.३४ ।।

na kāṅkṣe vijayaṁ Kṛṣṇa na ca rājyam sukhāni ca ।
kiṁ no rājyena Govinda kiṁ bhogair jīvitena vā ।। 1.32 ।।

yeṣām arthe kāṅkṣitaṁ no rājyaṁ bhogāḥ sukhāni ca ।
ta ime' vasthitā yuddhe prāṇāstyaktvā dhanāni ca ।। 1.33 ।।

ācāryāḥ pitaraḥ putrā tathaiva ca pitāmahāḥ ।
mātulāḥ śvaśurā pautrāḥ syālāḥ sambhandhinasthathā ।। 1.34 ।।

 Of what use, O Govinda, is kingdom, or of
pleasures or even life? For whose sake have
we desired for us kingdom, delights and
happiness, those very persons, namely
teachers, parents, sons, likewise grandfathers?

Note: Arjuna is obviously erring grievously in adjudging
the cause of war. If it was for the selfish gain of kingdom,
certainly the battle was wrong, vicious. The real cause
was not personal. It was the larger interest and need of
the society. Arjuna misses it. Nonetheless he was sincere.
That is why he gets corrected and elevated at least the
last minute! See how the warfield dialogue becomes the
ever living example for one and all in all fields of life
and activity.
