यज्ञस्तपस्तथा दानं तेषां भेदमिमं शृणु ॥ १७.७ ॥

āhāras-tv-api sarvasya tri-vidho bhavati priyaḥ |
yajñas-tapas-tathā dānaṁ teṣāṁ bhedam-imaṁ śṛṇu || 17.7 ||

   

Three-fold food preferences

Krishna also categorizes eating and food preferences into Sāttvika, Rājasika and Tāmasika. This categorization he extends to include the sphere of Yajña, Dāna and Tapas in general.
