Texts only say or declare.  The deeksha actually does, and that alone does.  Deeksha is the fire and brilliance which the Guru lights from himself in the disciple.  From then on it begins to blaze forth.  But the flame has to be preserved and strengthened by sadhana to blaze well.

Brahmavidya is a sacred pursuit of the sincere seeker.  Its role is to enrich his heart and fulfil his mind.  To win fame or recognition, to for any external success or glory -  all these are beyond the scope of Brahmavidya.  If Kshitish's mind felt impelled by the sight of Baba, the engineer-magician, it was for a reason of his own heart and that of Baba's.  There was no other motivation.  He folowed his Dada to Calcutta in the same way he had followed him earlier to the magician's stage.

I wanted not God or the Self, for it is already there everywhere.  My quest was to know how man, when he realizes this supreme Truth, would be for himself and for others around.  This is exactly what Arjuna asked Krishna.  "Who is a sthitha-prajna and how would a sthitha-dhi talk, act and behave in the world?"

With any seeker, any enquiry is truly not so much after God as after God-realized man.  Realization always relates to the knower.  The realizational effects too will be manifest in man alone.  Hence we ned to know the Knower. Knowledge is verily the knower's state.
