एतान्न हन्तुमिच्छामि घ्नतोऽपि मधुसूदन ।
अपि त्रैलोक्य-राज्यस्य हेतो: किं नु महीकृते ।। १.३५ ।।

etān na hantum icchāmi ghnato api Madhusūdana ।
api trailokya-rājyasya hetoḥ kiṁ nu mahikṛte ।। 1.35 ।।

I do not wish to kill these, even if I were to be
killed by them; even if it is for the sake of the
three worlds. What then for the sake of a piece
of this mere earth!
