सञ्जय उवाच
एवमुक्त्वा हृषीकेशं गुडाकेशः परन्तप ।
न योत्स्य इति गोविन्दमुक्त्वा तूष्णीं बभूव ह  ।। २.९ ।।

evam uktvā hṛiṣikeśaṁ gudakeśaḥ parantapaḥ ।
na yotsya iti Govindam-uktvā tūṣṇīṁ babhūva ha ।।2.9।।

  Having told the Lord of the senses (Krishna) like
this, the tormenter of enemies (Arjuna), became silent,
saying to Govinda “I shall not fight”. Ah!

Note: For an illustrious fighter like Arjuna, having come
to the battlefield reinforcing himself with austerity, unique
weapons and skill, to say he will not fight is unthinkable.
It show how no human will be full in the absence of the
inner treasure, namely the immortal Soul. Arjuna had
missed it all along. Now his hollowness stood revealed,
to his own surprise and sorrow.
