Harih Om Tat Sat. Jai Guru. Jai Guru.
After showing the Vishvaroopa to Arjuna in the battlefield of Kurukshetra, Krishna found that Arjuna was not able to look at that kind of a fierce form of Krishna. Why it was fierce? Because the scene was the impending war. For the next eighteen days, Arjuna was supposed to fight and get involved fully in an absolutely murderful war. I think 4.5 million warriors had assembled there. All of them except ten had to be murdered, killed by one another. So, it was a kind of a destructional form that Krishna showed. Arjuna was not able to bear it. At the same time, the siddhapurushas were around. They only prostrated before it, never got nonplussed.
It is for you to think very well and understand that anything that happens in this world is part of the supreme divinity. God means existence, and continuous existence means emergence on the one hand and subsidence or merger on the other. Either there will be a world where constant birth, death and existence would be there or there will be nothing. Arjuna was not able to contain it. So he asked Krishna to withdraw that form and show him the beautiful and enchanting one. Krishna did it and then he makes an observation which has got an eternal message for all devotees.
śakya evaṁ-vidho draṣṭuṁ dṛṣṭavān-asi māṁ yathā
jñātuṁ draṣṭuṁ ca tattvena praveṣṭuṁ ca paran-tapa
My universal form cannot be seen by virtue of any kind of an austerity, sacrifice, pooja or anything else. The only way to understand me in my universal form is, bhaktyā tu ananyayā śakya, only by simple, pure, unflinching devotion. If you have simple and wholesome devotion to the Lord, it can be in any form, it can be through fondness or love or respect or fear, anything whatsoever but you should have a constant and wholesome linkage with God. Understand God to be Godly, not in your manner, (but) as present everywhere, including everything, excluding nothing.
Bhaktyā tu ananyayā śakya aham-evaṁ-vidho ’rjuna, when you have full bhakti you will not be repelled by, frightened by anything. We are reading a lot of appalling reports in the newspapers particularly about raping, suicide and what not! Very highly educated people associated with something like a scam or a misbehavior, financial embezzlement. A number of people have died in very mysterious circumstances. Many people are committing suicide for what? We don’t know. Many things are taking place. And most of them are unpleasant. We still have to live in this world. The only way is to divinize everything.
If a person thieves it is because he has got a thieving attitude in his mind. Wherefrom did he inherit it? Wherefrom did he absorb it? Ultimately it comes from the world or it comes from within. Either he has inherited it from the parents or previous lineage or he has acquired it from seeing the world. That is part of the world. So the ultimate answer will be that everything is God. That kind of a universal feeling you must have. The universal feeling should include anything and everything within the universe. It contains policemen, it contains thieves, dacoits, it contains cruel people, gentle people, all of them are included in the world; hence included in your God.
Bhaktyā tu ananyayā śakya aham-evaṁ-vidho ’rjuna jñātuṁ , as a devotee, you have to think about God. What is the measure of God, extent of God, nature of God? Is not the world His creation? Whatever is there, does He not include it? I may not like many things. But when I think that they are included in my God, I cannot dislike them. So, the first dislike, visual dislike will be replaced by a higher vision that everything is divine and godly. When you have this kind of a universal expansion about your God, the thought of God, draṣṭuṁ, you will be able to see Him. See Him when? Not as a special brilliance when you meditate. Seeing Him is, you may meditate and have your pleasant experience. But that experience should not be contradicted by whatever you feel and look at when you wake up. So, there will be a greater vision by virtue of which you understand that all are in whatever manner they are, are God.
Once you understand that all are God, the Earth is God, your body is God, Mind is God, the pancabhūtās are God, you are already inside the world. Though you are upon the Earth, you are surrounded by air, surrounded by water, surrounded by fire, surrounded by space. So we are already in the world. That we are already in the world and the world is God, therefore I am living and moving in God. This kind of a feeling and realization will come to you. This is what is called entry into God.
The entry into God is not walking and going with an umbrella and a stick and a crown and getting into Vaikunta or Kailasa. They are all physical. God means far beyond the Earth. Kailasa is somewhere on the Himalayan Top. So the entire earth is already in God. Similarly all the stars, celestial bodies are in God. This fact you know and you feel “I am penetrated by and surrounded by God. So my entry is absolute. I was never outside God; always inside Him.”
So these 3 words you should remember:
All these things will be had by bhakti when it grows pure and wholesome.
Harih Om Tat Sat. Jai Guru.
