The Guiding force of Narayanashrama Tapovanam & Center for Inner Resources Development

Words of guidance spoken by Swamiji in the mornings. This book titled Morning Rays, compiles a few of these profound words on Saadhana.
Poojya Swmaiji speaks a few words of guidance at the conclusion of pushpa-samarpanam. The profound words on sādhanā, like the effulgent morning rays, would often illuminate many a dark corner in the listeners minds. At other times, like deep whispers from eternity, the words would create a meditative mood in the listeners and take them straight to the taintless sky of Soul experience. Some of these have now been published in audio as well as book forms and are available. Poojya Swamiji often asks seekers to read one article or just one page from “Prabhāta-raśmih” everyday and ruminate over the message throughout the day.
Vol I, which contains 36 edited talks, inspires the seekers and helps them walk confidently on the path of purity, expansion and enlightenment.
Vol II presents 34 edited talks on how to make spirituality a wholesome pursuit.
Extracts from the Book:
Whether it is the holy austerity of a braahmana or a sage, or whether it is the deluded and aggressive cruelty of a dacoit, understand that both are the handiwork of gunas and that these gunas belong to Prakriti, Nature. Don’t see any activity other than that of nature and see equally the Soul that is beyond Gunas and beyond nature. So, let anything take place in the world. Let the crime be of any dimension, however detestable and abominable an act it may be. From the devotee’s mind only sympathy and consideration are called for. In fact, you should be even more sublimated by the presence of cruelty than by that of gentleness. It is to sublimate the mind of the devotee that the creation remains so various and infinite. Examine your own mind and find out whether this sublimation is actually taking place….

Watch your mind; examine it. When you examine the mind, you will know as to what kind of thoughts arise from it and what kind of attitude, response and reaction generally it brings forth. For whatever comes to the mind, you have no responsibility at all. Whenever a thought, an emotion or an attitude arises, understand that it is so. If the thoughts are good, fine. You accept them. If they are not, simply say: “I don’t like you”. But the trouble is, people usually get agitated and afflicted by their thoughts. It is this agitation which should be dealt with. Let the mind produce any thought of its choice. You need act upon only those thoughts which are suitable to you and acceptable to you…..

Flexibility of the mind, assimilation of the external events and reconciliation with whatever comes from persons, places and events—these are the qualities that relieve you of affliction. Any obstinate note is a killing factor! It takes away peace; it takes away the blessedness; it takes away health; it destroys inner wealth; it destroys the person. Kind-heartedness, contentment, compassion, generosity, sacrifice etc. elevate and expand your personality. Pride, ostentation, intolerance, obstinacy on the other hand would make the mind constricted and heavy. The aim of spiritual life is to make the mind free of trouble or torment.

True religion, leading to spirituality should always bring about expansion, elevation and excellence. Expansion obviously is not physical. It is in the mind level. The body begins its growth right from the state of its inception in the womb. After birth it keeps growing. At 21 years or so, it completes its possible growth. You become an adult. Thereafter the growth is always at the mind level. This expansion is in the form of nobler attitudes, deeper and more comprehensive perceptions and broader evaluations…..
